DYLAN
When his companion was being moved to a
new stable, Dylan was discovered left behind in
a field without water, food or shelter. It was sub
zero weather in March here in Michigan - it's a
wonder he had made it through the winter. He
was emaciated and ready to drop. When asked
about his future we were told he was free to a
good home. So, he was loaded in the trailer
and made the trip to his forever home. We
thought even if he just can get some food, water
and a blanket it will make his last days better.
Now he is a well rounded, beautiful guy. Today
his coat gleams in the sun. He enjoys his days
of grazing and napping. Dylan is a sweetheart
and always seems so surprised to receive a
treat that he does a little wobbly skip of
happiness. For a horse in his 30's, he moves
around pretty well.

CURLY
Curly is an elderly Quarter Horse who has
worked hard his entire life. He is believed to
have once been a cutting horse due to his
severe arthritic knees. Curly's owner lost
interest in riding and didn't see him for months.
Finally he decided he didn't want to support him
any longer. Being a horse in his 20's, finding
him a new home wasn’t easy. So he became a
permanent and happy resident of Broken Road
Rescue where he spends his days grazing and
keeping a watchful eye on the youngsters. He
can still give walk/trot rides, but he's best at
being a foster dad to the babies. Curly is a
sweetheart and loving companion.

Plum
Plum is a 1986 foal so he will be 24 this
coming January. He is a thoroughbred; born
and raised in Maryland. Plum raced on the track
as his first job. He was then trained to be an
open jumper and then converted to a Three-Day
Eventer. When he was 10, he was purchased
by a member of a Maryland-based Hunt and
was the primary horse for his owner, who was
Whipper-in for this hunt. He hunted until he was
18, then retired due to his vision becoming bad
due to cataracts. He was then bought simply to
be used as a good trail horse, but retired last
year due to injuries from complications of his
narcolepsy (he falls down when he has a
seizure), plus the cataracts and his back and
knees are  very sore from his jumping career.
Now he lives on the farm as a retiree just
grazing and adoring attention from his friends
here at Broken Road Rescue.
